Why publishers partner with us

A donation to CB4K isn't just generosity — it's distribution with purpose. Overstock, advance copies, and previous print runs that might otherwise sit in a warehouse instead reach a national network of children's hospitals, at scale and with full visibility into where they land. It's a meaningful way to put your titles in front of new readers while supporting children receiving treatment.

What you can send

We welcome bulk donations of:

  • Single-issue comic books — new releases, overstock, or previous print runs

  • Graphic novels and trade paperbacks

  • All-ages and kid-friendly titles — our largest area of need

  • Teen-appropriate titles — sorted and distributed separately from all-ages material

  • Educational or literacy-focused comics

What we can't accept

To keep every donation appropriate for children in hospital settings, we're not able to accept mature, explicit, or adult-oriented titles, or anything not suitable for a young or teen audience. See our full guidelines on Donate Comic Books.

Basic safety and cleanliness standards

Because these comics go directly to children with fragile health, we ask publishers to keep a few basics in mind:

  • Ship clean, dry stock. Comics should be free of mold, moisture damage, smoke exposure, or pest exposure before they leave your facility.

  • Pack to prevent damage in transit. Flat, snug packing with adequate box support helps titles arrive in condition a child  or teen would be excited to receive.

  • If they are slightly damaged, that is acceptable as well, but please let us know

  • Expect inspection on our end. Every donation is checked and sorted under our infectious-disease protocols before it's matched to a hospital or the troops — standards we've followed since day one.

  • Please confirm any specific packaging, palletizing, or freight requirements for large publisher shipments.

How a bulk donation works

  1. Start the conversation. Reach out through our contact form, email or call  to discuss what you're looking to donate.

  2. We talk specifics. Titles, quantities, formats, and timing — matched against what our partner hospitals need most.

  3. You ship the donation. We'll share packing and shipping guidance suited to the size of your contribution.

  4. We sort, inspect, and distribute. Your titles are matched to age-appropriate needs and sent to hospitals nationwide.​
