ComicBooks For Troops Weekend Event: November 13th-November 15th

Once a year, comic shops, online retailers, creators, and influencers join together to support the men and women who protect us.

You collect comic books, Funko Pops, action figures, toys, pop culture items, and dollars. We get them to the troops. Your community gets a great reason to come through your door, or visit your page.

What is ComicBooks For Troops Weekend?

The goal of the event is twofold: to help the troops, and to increase awareness and traffic for the retailers, e-tailers, creators, influencers, and organizations who take part. Share the message with your followers that taking part helps the brave men and women who protect our shores every day, and give them a reason to come say hello.

ComicBooks For Troops is the sister charity of ComicBooks For Kids!, and the largest charity in the U.S. for comic books and pop culture items to the military. Last year we provided over 100,000 comics and graphic novels to all branches, overseas and at home, and this year will be even more.

How it helps you

If you run a brick and mortar shop. November can be a slower month until after Thanksgiving, and it comes right after NYCC, as many conventions are winding down. Letting your supporters know that taking part can help the troops (or the kids), all while they pick up some goodies, should help bring in foot traffic. We provide an image you can place on your Facebook page or website. It announces ComicBooks For Troops! Day and encourages customers to come into your store and donate comic books, Funko Pops, toys, other pop culture items, or dollars. Beyond that, the promotions are yours. Every shop has its own business model, and one size doesn’t fit all, so create whatever promotion you think will bring people in.

If you’re an e-tailer, influencer, or creator. You are so important to us, and we need your help. Sharing with your supporters that their participation can help the troops (or the kids), all while they get some goodies, should boost participation.

Run it when it works for you

Veterans Day, November 11, falls on a Wednesday in 2026. Can’t run it midweek? Run it the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of that weekend, or whenever is best for you. The message is that we’re all excited to be making a difference, and we’re providing an image for that weekend, too.

You can also promote ComicBooks For Kids! alongside or instead of ComicBooks For Troops. There’s no wrong answer. We are the same organization, so do what’s best for you and your shop.

Getting your donations to us

After the event, we’d love to chat, even for just five minutes. We’d like to hear whether it increased traffic and how we can customize the event for next year.

If you’ve collected comics or would like to send a check, please give us a heads up before mailing, as we have a lot of inventory right now. Our address is:

ComicBooks For Kids!

Support us all year long

ComicBooks For Troops! Day is once a year, but please don’t make it a one-and-done. We’d be honored and thrilled to have your events, auctions, fundraisers, and more throughout the year. If you offer incentive variants (1:100 and the like), [Contact Us] and we’ll share how to optimize your finances on those issues.

Mark your calendar: our next annual ComicBooks For Kids! Day will be in the spring of 2027.

About ComicBooks For Kids!

We’re an all-volunteer organization, incorporated in Illinois in 2017, and we describe ourselves as the largest 501(c)(3) charity in the world for comic books and pop culture items to children in hospitals and cancer centers. We support over 200 hospitals in all 50 states, plus Canada, and we have a separate branch in the UK. The number grows every month, and our service is free to every hospital we support. See the list on our Medical Facilities page.

We started ComicBooks For Kids! to make a difference for kids in hospitals and for the brave men and women who protect us every day. For us, this is full time. We work every day of the year, because illness doesn’t take a holiday, and neither do our troops. We have an indoor facility to maintain infectious disease protocol standards, and we were doing so long before the world had heard of COVID. Read stories from our community on our Community page, and see more pictures on our Facebook page.
