Donation
Policy.
Last updated: October 1,2026
This page states our formal policies governing comic book and material donations to ComicBooks For Kids!.

1. Donation Acceptance Policy
ComicBooks For Kids! accepts in-kind donations of comic books, graphic novels, coloring books, and related kid- and teen-appropriate materials, subject to the content and condition standards below. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to accept, decline, or dispose of any donated materials that do not meet our standards.

Donated materials become the property of ComicBooks For Kids! upon receipt. We do not provide monetary valuations of in-kind donations for tax purposes; donors are responsible for determining the value of their own charitable contributions in consultation with a tax advisor, consistent with IRS guidelines for non-cash charitable contributions.

The IRS requires donation receipts for any donation of $250.00 or greater. However, we will be glad to provide a donation receipt on request.

2. Content Suitability Policy
Because our recipients are children in hospitals, schools, and (through Comic Books for Troops) service members, all donated materials must be appropriate for a young or teen audience.
We do not accept, and will remove from circulation:
-
Mature, explicit, or adult-oriented content
-
Content depicting graphic violence unsuitable for children
-
Any material inconsistent with our mission of providing safe, age-appropriate reading material

Materials are sorted by age-appropriateness, with teen-appropriate titles kept separate from all-ages titles at every stage of handling and distribution.

3. Shipping and Handling Policy
Condition standards. Donated materials must be free of mold, water damage, smoke damage, pest exposure, or significant physical damage.

Infectious-disease protocols. ComicBooks For Kids! follows infectious-disease protocols in the storage, sorting, packing, and shipping of all donated materials, and has done so since our founding. This includes inspection procedures designed to protect the health of children with compromised immune systems, consistent with the standards required by our partner hospitals.

Packing requirements for donors. Donors are asked to pack materials securely to prevent damage in transit.

Shipping address and large donations. Our Address is:

4. Right to Decline or Redirect Donations
ComicBooks For Kids! reserves the right to decline any donation that does not meet the standards above, or to redirect materials to another appropriate use (such as recycling) if they cannot be safely distributed to children.
