Daily Herald Spotlights How ComicBooks For Kids! Brings Cheer to Hospitalized Children
Helping young patients find adventure, comfort, and the joy of reading—one comic book at a time.
In April 2019, the Daily Herald featured ComicBooks For Kids! in a story about our mission to bring free comic books to children in hospitals and cancer treatment centers. The article explored how founder Mark Weiss turned his love of comics into a growing nonprofit dedicated to helping young patients find moments of happiness during difficult hospital stays.
At the time of the feature, CB4K had grown from serving 10 hospitals with 1,000 comic books to working with 80 hospitals nationwide and distributing more than 80,000 comics. The article also highlighted our partnerships with publishers and distributors, along with feedback from hospital staff who saw firsthand how comics could encourage reading and brighten the patient experience.
This feature captured the heart of our mission: giving children an opportunity to escape into imaginative worlds, discover exciting stories, and experience a little joy during challenging times.
