A major industry partnership helps launch CB4K’s mission to bring comics to hospitalized children.

In July 2017, ICv2 reported that Diamond Comic Distributors had announced its involvement with ComicBooks For Kids! at San Diego Comic-Con. This early industry support helped bring attention to CB4K’s mission of providing free, child-friendly comic books and graphic novels to children in hospitals, cancer centers, and medical facilities across the United States.

The article invited comic book publishers and retailers to get involved through direct donations, fundraising events, and coordinated deliveries to local hospitals. Participating retailers could work with CB4K to identify healthcare facilities in their communities and help get new reading materials into the hands of young patients.

At the time of the announcement, CB4K had already delivered more than 1,500 comic books to over 40 hospitals nationwide. The organization was building relationships with publishers, retailers, and corporate sponsors who shared its vision of using comics to bring comfort, entertainment, and a welcome distraction to children facing medical challenges.

Diamond’s involvement marked an important early milestone in CB4K’s growth, demonstrating the impact that industry-wide collaboration can have when a community comes together for a good cause.
